I am in a standard 5x5 league with deeper rosters (mixed, 16 teams, 14 batters, 9 pitchers, 12 bench players per team).  I am doing really well in pitching but need some boost in power and RBIs. Is this trade worth it? Would a counter of Byrnes in place of Nomar be too much?

i like the Beltran side.  if you're getting that then i like it even better for you if you can get Byrnes instead of Nomar

i think the side getting sheets wins.  Nomar was one of the most outspoken players against the steroid testing, saying "it is guilty until proven innocent, lots of false positives" etc.  He has only one homer all year and had hit .230 for the past 45 days.

Dump nomar now while he still has a little bit of value.  Yes beltran is a top 30 player, or even a top 20 player in that loaded lineup, but a lot of people say he is top 15or even top 10 and i think that is a stretch.

I guess i can understand that youkilis is a sell high candidate, and i agree that beltran>sheets, but youkilis>>>>> nomar.  Nomar is in freefall and will probably hit .230 the rest of the year with maybe 2 homers.  He is completely deflated from all the steroid abuse.

in a 16 team league, it is more important that you will get much better overall production in your trades, in 12 team leauges you usually evaluate the trade by which team gets the better player.  Yeah beltran is the best player in the trade, but youkilis + sheets will get you much much more production than nomar+beltran because of how much nomar sucks due to all the years of steroid abuse.
