| I'm a baseball pool noob. It's my 1st year in a 12 team mixed league roto keeper - Runs, HR, RBI, SB, .avg, .slg, wins, K's, ERA, WHIP, Saves. Roster size is 42 and there are only 2 FA pickups (1 prior to all-star and 1 after). Starting roster is 2 x C,1B,2B,SS,3B, 7OF, 9P - remaining 16 are bench players. My team: Kendall, Napoli, Ausmus, Sexson, Ortiz, Youkilis, Durham, Ellis, Theriot, Belliard, A. Hill, Clayton, Eckstein, Miguel Cabrera, Gordon, Iwamura, Graffanino, Lamb, Ichiro, CB Young, J. Cruz, Matthews jr., podsednik, B. Giles, Edmonds, N. Cruz, dejesus, mench, melky cabrera, J. Santana, Schilling, Lily, Clemens, Wang, Maddux, Wells, Wagner, otsuka, Julio, Broxton, Rodney, Baez. I'm pretty much out of contention for this year - 4th last of 12 (56 pts vs leader at 99) - and I'm looking to build for next year. We keep 8 players and there's a salary cap with 20% inflation and minimum salary amounts. The other guy is desperate for a 3B - he only has Crede and Glaus and he's in contention this year (3rd with 92 pts). Am I getting value here? I'm a total baseball noob, but I know that Penny started well and faded last year and Gagne is a constant injury risk. Both players would be retained for next year at $10 while iwamura would be retainable at $5, Baez is a chump to my knowledge - our salary cap is $325 for the starting 26 and reserves are $1. Thanks for any advice!

| if you're at the bottom and out of the race you should be trading FOR young'ens w/ upside not trading away an older rook like Iwamura. Gagne has a lot of injury risk and i don't believe in Penny. i think you're right on about Baez though. i pass on this and look to rebuild w/ guys w/ upside.

| Try to work on upgrading the MI, as clayton, ellis, durham are not good players. Sexson will be fine, but i never likes kendall, and posednik and giles are hurt bad so getting an OF wouldnt be a bad idea. Your SP is excellent for such a league format, but like i said, the MI and OF could really use some work. I think the idea of 2 FA pickups all year is idiotic because off all the injuries, even with the big bench, if all of your 2b get hurt, then you are hosed. As you mentioned, Penny did the same thing last year, i think he was the SP at the allstar game, having a great first half, then turned into a pumpkin. Maybe this is the year he puts it all together, but i would not take that chance. decline and look to upgrade at MI and OF. qstar (6/14/2007)

| I have two separate trade offers now: Penny $7/Gagne$4 for Lamb$1/Baez$1 and a massive deal: Going to me: Laird, b. phillips, furcal, delgado, c. jones, ethier, bj ryan, papelbon, zito Going to him: napoli, durham, hill, ortiz, mig. cabrera, matthews, j. santana, lily, clemens I don't like the idea of dealing away all my assets in one deal to essentially get brandon phillips and jon papelbon.
