I'm in a keeper league with a two year restriction (ie. can only keep players for year drafted plus 2 years maximum), salary cap and positional requirements in play(4C,4LW,4RW,6D,2G per week).
Was offered: G - Bryzgalov, RW - Radulov, C - Stoll (can't keep), D - Rafalski (can't keep)
for:
G - Toskala, C - Horcoff, RW - Dvorak, D - Zidlicky (all retainable)
Toskala is an insurance policy on my team (behind Kipper and Fernandez) and I'm banking on Radulov having an impact in the next 2 years. I see the trade as being fair value for both sides, but just wanted a second opinion.

Really, I am concerned about who you can and can't keep after the trade. Radulov and Bryz both have good upside but it depends on how quickly they get PT and start consistently producing. Besides, it doesn't sound good for Rad's PT right now so I think it would be wise to get another keeper instead of either Rafalski or Stoll.

| That is the point of my question. The consensus is that Radulov *will* be a superstar...but when? I would only be able to retain him for 2007/2008 and 2008/2009. He's not a factor this year, I'm banking on next year or 08/09. I am currently 4th in the pool (top 3 pay out) and I view Rafalski/Stoll as equal production as Horcoff/Zidlicky for this year, Toskala is purely insurance to Kipper/Fernandez which is the same for Bryzgalov and for 06/07, Radulov is prolly same if not a slight upgrade on Dvorak. I consider 06/07 a wash and I keep Radulov instead of Toskala in 07/08. Currently my team is: B. Richards, D.Roy, Horcoff, Antropov, Cajanek, Conroy, Elias, Ovechkin, Kunitz, Roberts, Neil, Horton, Wellwood, Cammalleri, Langenbrunner, Dvorak, Jovanovski, Zidlicky, Ohlund, Johnsson, Phillips, Westcott, Sutton, Kipprusoff, Fernandez, Toskala We only retain 6 players and have a $200 salary cap. I already have the currently players under contract for 2007/2008 - Elias($24), Ovechkin ($13), Horton($10), Fernandez($10), Horcoff($10). I'm trying to move Horcoff to open up a retainer spot and retain 2 of: Kunitz($8), Richards ($34), Roy ($8), Cammalleri ($12), Radulov ($8), Bryzgalov ($8).

Toskala on the other hand does seem to be ready to take the reins and is probably a better option NEXT year. i didnt think you were getting enough back when i looked at your trade. the fact that you can't keep Stoll says to me that you're not getting enough back.

| Just an update: The final trade that went through was: I gave up: Toskala, Horcoff, Wellwood, Zidlicky, Conroy I got: Mason, Rafalski, Radulov, Datsyuk, Leclair Leclair was a throw in so we could even up the salaries in the deal. Datsyuk as well as Rafalski are unretainable for next year, but I'm currently 4th in our league and I thought this would upgrade my team for a run this year and add a budding star for next year. Additionally, I traded Horcoff who was under contract for next year as one of my 6 keepers, so that frees up a keeper slot. Looking to next year, my keepers would be: Fernandez at $10, Ovechkin $13, Elias $24, Horton $10, Radulov$8, + 1 of: Kunitz$8, D. Roy$8, Cammalleri $12 or B. Richards $28. Our salary cap is $200, so that would leave plenty of room to work with at our auction. Hopefully Radulov will get the TOI next year to put up some decent numbers, but for $8 next year and $10 in 2 yrs (out of $200), I think he's a pretty good value for money RW.
