When I read Logman's post on getting a bruiser in my defense, I realized I never really had one. I am thinking about offering a trade for Chara and am willing to give up a D since I have good depth there. I am considering doing a 2 for 1 deal since I need to make room Alex Ovechkin coming soon on the FA. Would a S. Zubov (Dal - D) and S. Kozlov (Atl - LW) be too little? Here is my lineup:

If the guy realizes how valuable Chara will be, then yeah ... I'm afraid you are not even close...
I'd try dangling Stillman ... see if that can get it done ... His point total from last year will prove to be a complete fluke due to the team he was on ...
With Carolina I expect him to regress closer to 50 points with a brutal +/- ....
Hopefully your trading partner will look at last year's stats and think he is getting a stud...
Don't hesitate to throw in some filler to get the trade done (Kozlov or CHeeChoo)
You can then fill in that LW spot with Kozlov... or some good waiver guys in your league like Schaefer or Malone.... they will be nice suprises this year playing the top 6 on AWESOME teams.

i gotta agree almost completely with alla rino. your offer shouldn't come all that close to getting this done but offering someone Stillman may. if you have to throw in more from there then you should do so.
i'm not as high on Schaefer or Malone as Sean is but definitely don't be afraid to take his advice here.

I was atually waiting for Alex Ovechkin when he is activated by Yahoo. He is highly touted a few posters here. That's the whole reason for giving up a LWer to make space for Ovechkin. Thanks for the pointers of Schaefer and Malone though. Sent the trade offer: C. Stillman (Car - LW) and S. Zubov (Dal - D) for Z. Chara (Ott - D). We'll see what happens and go from there.

I agree with the others, Chara is one of the top defenseman in the league, he gets big penalty minutes and gets a good amount of points for a defenseman with a killer +/-... Stillman and Zubov shouldnt get it done, but u never know

If Stillman and Zubov don't get it done, would a Stillman and A. Aucoin (Chi - D) for Chara trade work better?

not for me it wouldnt...ill tell u why, chances are the other team has better LWs and wouldnt even start Stillman...actually i just took a look at the team Chara is on...wow that team doesnt look too good
