I think I have to need to add Ribeiro even if I have 4 C. Budaj and Harding have been nice FA adds. RMiller and Kipper seem to be rounding into form.

Who do I drop? I have Budaj, Harding, Recchi, Gomez, Tanguay in trade offers. I'm thinking Marleau or Streit. However, I could trade Marleau for Bryz to an owner who wants Marleau.

News that Drury might stick on #1 line with Jagr and Straka. If he doesn't then still have Gomez. Thinking of dropping Sykora, JWilliams (DTD again) or Selanne. If only PIT would leave Sykora on first line.

An owner is interested in Marleau so would prefer to drop RW.

BBurke "should" be trading Bryzgalov in next week or two for some offensive help (hello LA who only has LaBarbera?). He only has 1 RW spot for Sykora, Knuble and Dumont so it seems like it's a better idea to carry a LW or adecent goalie than a 4th RW that he can't start. Still has Sullivan on IR.

I'm sure MFernandez will get picked up now that he got a SO last night.

Never hurts to have good goalie depth (good trade bait).

Osgood gets a fair share of starts bc Hasek needs rest. MFernandez, JTheodore, MSmith, Raycroft are FA while Budaj on WW (hope he clears bc saving WW #2).

Who could/should be dropped? MSmith and Osgood are like Bryz. Part timers with good numbers and their team wins.

Maybe 2 players (Bryz, RW or D) for Osgood (plays for DET) and Manny or Budaj?

Don't think start Ryder ahead of Knuble (playing with the 2 star Frenchies) but Ryder could help in G and especially in SOG since he hardly ever passes. Can u tell I'm a Habs fan bc I also included Grabovski & Kostitsyn?

LW seems very week this year. Add JStaal and/or Tucker and hope they get LW eligibility? Always liked Vermette; Kostitsyn with AK27 should be good. Add Higgins bc he will get LW and he's a good player?

Dumont seems droppable since he has Alfie, Knuble and Sykora (thank you dual eligibilty and playing with Sid). His D looks good.

Andrej Meszaros is good trade bait. Another topic/post but he could probably trade Gomez bc there's a NYR fan in the league.

Should I drop Prospal or Ryder for Stafford? Stafford is my sleeper pick for a break out in BUF as he should get 2nd line duty. If he gets time on the PP, I could see him cracking 30g, 60-70p, along with 80PIM.

I think/hope EJ and have a rookie year like Phaneuf with 12-15g, 40P, +5 and 80-100PIM and a ton of shoots in a league that counts G, A, PIM, +/-, GWG, PPP, SHP, Shots. Hockeysfuture.com has him ranked as the #1 prospect in NHL. Phillips will only contribute PIM and +/-. EJ will be a top 4 d-man in STL and should get PP time. Any thoughts?

Also, Kuba is available on WW. He had 15g last year. Worth a spot?

16 team roto league draft strategy question

Our 16 team roto league will have the following stat categories G, A, PIM, +/-, PPP, SHP, GWG, SH and for goalies W, GAA, SV, SO.

Obviously Crosby will be the #1 pick but after that it gets muddy. Should I draft a goalie in the 1st round? With 8 to 4 ratio of f/d to goalie stat categories I think that I should be drafting the best player available and not a goalie, But if I pass on a goalie in the first round I may get stuck with a 2nd tier goalie in the 2nd round. Who to Keep?

I know it's only July, but I can't wait for the season to start already.

Weekly H2H G,A,Pts,+/-,PIM,PPG,PPA,SOG, Wins, GAA, Saves. Starting: 4C/LW/RW, 6D, 2G + bench of 6. (edit: We just changed our scoring format to separate PPP into PPG and PPA and added Pts)

Salary cap is $200 but I overspent in 06/07 and start with $191. We use an auction to get our initial 16 players (3C/LW/RW, 5D, 2G) and then straight draft the last 10 players for $1 each.

We can keep 6 players for a maximum of 2 years subject to a 20% annual salary increase. We are able to freeze ONE player's salary.

I have the following players already under contract for 07/08 - Elias $24, Ovechkin $13, Horton $10 - therefore I have $134 to spend on my remaining 3 keepers and 10 auctioned players.

My list of potential keepers is:

Hasek $18 (or freeze at 15), Legace $8, Gonchar $24 (or freeze at $20), Nylander $12, Radulov $8.

Many of the competition have already locked up their goalies under contract - Giguere, Huet, Biron, Emery, Lundqvist, Vokoun, Lehtonen, Miller, Fleury, Nabokov, Budaj, Denis, Kolzig, Roloson, Toskala, Fernandez are unavailable at the auction. Which leaves the big 3 of Brodeur, Luongo and Kipper available as well as: Ward and Dipietro available...but there are 9 teams left that are looking for 14 goalies.

Who should I keep? I'm leaning towards keeping Legace 2 of: Hasek, Nylander, Gonchar and Radulov....I was thinking Hasek for an average cost goalie that might give star performance (or flame out horribly) and Nylander since he's cheaper than Gonchar. With the change in categories towards Pts, PPG and PPA would it be better to keep Nylander and Gonchar then since there are now 8 skater categories compared to 3 goalie cats?

TMRX WINNER!

As M. Eric Maltais (aka Fantasy Frog, and last season's TMRX winner) graciously passed me the TMRX crown yesterday at http://www.talentedmrroto.com/Article.aspx?articleid=17596 I thought I would take a moment here to upload my unkempt TMRX diary...

Used my deep keeper 16 team x 30 player rankings for the draft, because I hadn't had the time to do enough homework. Ryan Craig anyone?

Botched the goalies out of the draft: Miller, Toivonen and Cloutier. Finished with Lundqvist and Backstrom, with Brodeur streaming insurance, and Belfour benched. An over-reaction maybe, but I gained in the G-cats well (and managed to turn Kovalchuk into Fleury into Brodeur). Chris Mason was the monster FAAB pickup.

I had a FrankenNash lead (G and PIMs) by Xmas, and started shedding those categories for a long, slow +/- attack.

I made a few blockbusters. So did others. Generally, I missed the TMR commentator on the TMRX commentators commentary. However, I couldn't have won without M. Fantasy Frog's http://www.talentedmrroto.com/Article.aspx?articleid=16004 (8 Simple Rules for Playing to Win).

My bro is 2nd (6 pts behind leader) in 12 team standard daily roto yahoo league.

He's last in +/- with -68. Next person is -27. Don't think he'll gain 1 more point in -/+ so he'll have to focus on G, A, PPP, PIM. GWG is a crap shoot.

He likes to keep his G for cheap Wins so I don't think he'll dump one of them. Mason has been amazing, while Bryz not quite. He needs RW help.

He's got WW#8 so hopefully he can grab Havlat or Tucker for Preissing (+/- won't be of much help and not enough PIM,PPP, P, A) or GMurray (out indefinitely). Guy in 1st place (WW#11) is very active; close in PIM to my bro but trails my bro in G, A, PPP.

Does he get Tucker right away (March 10) or save it for Havlat (March 11) but risk going empty handed? Grab Tucker (TOR still in race) so 1st place doesn't get PIM help or grab Havlat (injury prone?? CHI out of race)?

He could always add FA SAvery then WW Havlat which is risky. I'm assuming he'll only get Tucker or Havlat thru WW then who should he add for Preissing or GMurray?

Okay, I'm in a 16 team H2H league, categories for skaters are: G, A, +/-, PIM, PPP, SOG. Team budgets are $200 and salaries for keepers increase by 20%. Limited to 6 keepers max.

I'm contending this year and I'd be trading to a team that is out of it already. Am I getting value by offering: D - Sergei Gonchar $20, D - Skoula $1 to receive: D - Boyle $14, D - Zhitnik $2?

I figure Boyle and Zhitnik can make up Gonchar's production over the next 2 months. I also like Boyle at $17 rather than Gonchar at $24 next year although I think Gonchar might be better than Boyle over a full season with the way Crosby/Malkin/Staal are producing.

is there a "team games by week" chart I can find?

I'm in a h2h league, and playoffs are coming up. I'm in first place by a long shot, and so want to go ahead and try to secure the players that will have the most games in the second round of the playoffs (I get a bye the first round). Is there a chart somewhere online that lists how many games each team has each week, so I can figure out which players will be playing 3, maybe 4, games that week of the second round? thanx

Out of the following players, which three would be the best choice to hold onto for the rest of the season?

Lee Stempniak, Michal Ouellet, Viktor Kozlov, Brandon Bochenski, Steve Bernier

Who is the odd man out here?

Does Ouellet's role in Pittsburgh get reduced with the arrival of Roberts?

Will Kozlov continue to produce among the top six in NY with Smyth in town?

Is Bochenski the real deal, or just getting lucky?

Stempniak obviously has the skills, but should the lack of support he have be a concern?

What about Bernier, will he stick and be effective with SJ again?

Any opinions on this one? I saw the hit and it was defintely late, not dirty in the sense of an elbow to the head but the players involved make me question the no call. Drury, a top tier player and co-captain, was clearly out of the play as the puck had left his stick about 2 seconds before the hit. I understand Neil needs to be effective in his job as an agitator but to take out a Captain?? There are certain things you don't do and that's mess with the team captain. Look what happened to Naslund vs Moore vs Bertuzzi vs Moore's legal team. A Moore, a rookie at the time, ultimately had his neck broken because he took out the team's captain Naslund and did not own up to it. Neil is a weasle and I can see him avoiding a fight if he wanted to.

I see shadows of the Ottawa vs Philly brawl brewing again! (see you tube if you haven't seen it - something to do with Havlat being a wuss or something like that..)

Personally I think it was a late hit and Buffalo will make Chris Neil pay. Ottawa better call up McGrattan cause Neil is marked!

BTW does anyone else think Lindy Ruff needs to shut the hell up and coach? I remember Darcy Tucker's attempted knee to the leg and elbow to the head at the same time rant...just take care of business man! The press is not going to help you on the ice!

Forsberg was traded to the Preds for Upshall, Parent, 1st and 3rd rounds picks. This can only increase his value. His +/- should go through the roof along with unreal ppp and assist numbers.

Just out of curiosity I was wondering how Alex Korolyuk will be eligible to play for SJ this year now that they have his rights again. I've read numerous reports that his return is imminent.

However, my understanding is that he's been playing in russia for the last 2 years and that the normal IIHF transfer window has been closed for the 06/07 season; June 15 seems to stick out in my mind as the last date for the current NHL season.

I would have thought that he'd be ineligible to play in the NHL this year; is he able to come over because Russia didn't sign the IIHF transfer agreement and they are not constrained by the transfer window?

WHat's with these rumors about Forsberg?

Has anyone else heard about Philly looking to move Forsberg? If so I would assume it would be for a goalie or combonation of players which may be similar to his salary of ~5 million or a team with cap space - Any ideas?

Toronto is in need of a Centre, Columbus needs help period - possibly Nash for Forsberg? -I know it doesn't really make sense but where else?

Does Ladislav Nagy's fantasy value improve, decrease or stay the same by being traded to Dallas? I think his +/- shoul improve if he plays on the top 2 lines.
