Web sites come and go, so getting emotional over a site disappearing is not really logical, yet I have to say I am more than a little sad to see this site fade off into the ether of the Internet.  As many of you, I have been with the site since its inception, having made the migration from small Yahoo! group to full blown web site.  First off, I would like to thank TMR for allowing me to be a part of his site, and Pete for allowing me the privilege of writing for what was the best fantasy sports site on the web.  I would be remiss if I did not thank all of the editors who did a fine job of making me look like a much better writer than I am, so thank you David Young, Brian, Christopher, Nando and Janet.  Also a big thanks to all of my NFL News guys who did a great job bringing our readers the news each week, all the designated posters who made my life so much easier, all of the chat hosts who provided excellent advice night in and night out.  A big thanks to Dave Hunter for running the best message boards on the world wide web; Ian, Lloyd, Guy, Todd (Telestar), Bstone and everyone who has made my life easier by providing advice I could agree with without elaborating on.

Most of all, I would like to thank all of you for making this site so special.  This message board – and site -- was more than a message board, it was a community.  A place where each night one could join the chat and wind up talking about anything from sports, to TV, to movies to midget porn.  I have had the honor of making friends with many of my fellow columnists and some of the members of the site, and feel fortunate for having the chance to have virtually met all of you in one way or another.   Even when my advice has been incorrect you have always treated me with respect, even when at times I have questioned whether I deserved that respect.

I only wish I could better express what you all have meant to me, and through what the site has meant to me.  Unfortunately, sarcasm is my forte, which has little use in this case.  I also know that these boards will continue in some form, but still I sense as if a chapter of my life is closing with this site.  It was a very special chapter, and I am glad that you were all a part of it.  So thank you everyone.

Shawn

attaboy Shawn.

i've often thought that society as a whole doesn't tell people when they've done a good job or provide the needed boost or kick in the pants at the right time.  so let me just say this, "dub, you've done an amazing job!"

i know for a fact that this community would not have been anything close to what it was without dub and Dave Hunter.  i've never met either but i consider both to be very good friends.  both have helped me numerous times and have always treated me with respect, even if i didn't agree with them.

much of the  praise for this site being doled out goes to Matt and Pete (and rightly so) but i just want to be sure that everyone (or at least I) notes the contributions of the two main guys for maintaining this message board.

attaboy Shawn.  and here's a deserved attaboy for you too Dave.

echoing ian.... or as I've often typed, "what ian said".

Dub you've just been amazing - these boards would be nothing without you man.  Thanks Dubman, thanks for all your work on these board, the chats, your advice - everything.

Thanks to Dave as well for tapping me on the shoulder a couple yrs ago and asking if I'd be willing to work for the site as a DP, then later as the Football Board moderator.  I appreciate all the kind words over the last 3+yrs and for allowing me to be involved with this site.  Hopefully I've given enough good advice to justify my involvment.

Man - this kinda feels like that last party I went to in college before we all moved on to next steps in life...

You should always try and trade a player before dropping/cutting him from your team. If I don't mention that in my post consider it my assumption that you've already explored (or exhausted) trade possibilities.

thank you to talentedmrroto.com. please understand that what you have accomplished here is significant. (significant enough that espn noticed and absorbed) i have been a loyal member since the site went premium and i have never regretted a dime. (i did have to explain to my wife who you were every time we got a credit card statement!) my routine every morning is to check my teams and then go to tmr.com. there has never been a question of mine that went unanswered or a day when i couldn't find valuable fantasy information or camaraderie. i think perhaps i have been more of a lurker than a participant but i have always been able to find my answers because many of you have had the same questions. i very much wish to continue to access these message boards, if possible. i have followed tmr over to the worldwide leader but i don't find the same intelligent discourse on the boards. and yes, i find i am actually saddened by the closing of this site, ain't that weird? so for what it's worth, thank you very much for sharing with me. bill

Thanks for the kind words, Guys. I, too, feel the same way about the friendships created on these boards. Crazy, huh? That you can form a friendship with someone without ever having a face-to-face?

Not that I'm not grateful for everything that you all have done for this site and for me, but there's one important thing we're all missing here: it isn't the end. Things will continue, just not on this site. But, yeah, I understand what you're saying. It'll be very strange to wake-up in the morning, and not go to TalentedMrRoto.com first thing, while I try to rub the sleep out of my eyes.

Of course, it's also a very exciting time as well. ESPN!!! That pretty much says it all!

I know Shawn covered it all here, but I wanted everyone to know that I am eternally grateful for the excellent job you (DP's, Columnists, Members) did on these boards. You guys made my job easy.

Dave

Big ups to everyone who contributed to this board. And I apologize for not being here as much as of late. But I always check in from time to time. I wish I could say I wasn't disappointed with the ESPN deal, but alas all good things come to an end.

Anyways, thanks to everyone who made this site possible, and hopefully the community feeling here will live on beyond the absorption of ESPN.

Cheers!

I want to thank Shawn and Dave as well. It has been a privilege to contribute to this site, and I've always felt that TMR and Pete were the captains while Shawn and Dave were the engine. (I really don't know what role I was serving, as I can't keep this analogy going further.) The TMR boards were a great blend of new people, returnees, veterans and expert players. It has been a place where you could get a variety of opinions or check your own strongly-held beliefs (and perhaps find there was reason to question them). I hope a way can be worked out to have a forum where we can swap ideas at ESPN. I'll be disappointed if we cannot. But thanks to everyone who contributed - from Matt and Pete to Shawn and Dave to the article contributors (some of them are really fantastic like LittleMac, David Young and Srini) to the designated posters. Ian, Guy Lake, Lloydy, Radiohead, Random - just to name a few. Great job, guys. It's been a pleasure.
