i'd be benching Beltran to play both Thome and Youkillis, the two guys feeling the squeeze in my line-up now that i added the red hot Gordan at third. i could also drop Youk/Gallardo/Alfonseca for Granderson to help my Runs category that would pose a similar bind (when Thome is actually healthy)
btw, Unit on my DL, and Embree on the FA list also competing for those pitcher roster spots mentioned above, but as per the message board heading i'm most interested in hearing some opinions and logic for if and when to sit a first rounder. 8 team (i know nutty small) yahoo Roto 5x5 league...

I might suggest playing matchups a little (assuming you have daily transactions) and not playing them against the tougher pitchers. I'm not a fan of Alfonseca, so unless you need saves badly, perhaps you could part with him. To answer your basic question, I wouldn't sit a first round guy the quality of Beltran unless I knew he was limited due to injury.
